Description

Zoning Board of Appeals

The Zoning Board of Appeals (BOA) is a five-member body appointed by the Village Board to hear and decide appeals, interpret the Zoning Ordinance, and to approve or deny variances. Another responsibility of the BOA is to provide an appeal mechanism for property owners who believe that the Village administration has made an error in interpreting the zoning ordinance. The Zoning Board of Appeals meets on the third Wednesday of each month. Meetings are open to the public and are held at the Village Hall/Public Safety Building (3100 Eaton Road).

Park Commission

The Park Commission acts as an advisory body to the Village Board to develop plans and make recommendations to improve or enhance the Village park system. The Commission also is to promote and recommend the planting and care of trees in the road right-of-way and other public places. The Park Commission meets the second Monday of the month. Meetings are open to the public and are held at the Village Hall/Public Safety Building (3100 Eaton Road).

Plan Commission

The Plan Commission consists of seven members, which include the Village President, who serves as the Chairperson and six citizen members. The focus of the Plan Commission is to guide growth and development within the Village to promote its residents' health, safety and welfare. The Plan Commission reviews and provides recommendations on site plans for new development, lot split applications and special use permits within the Village.

In addition, the Plan Commission provides recommendations to the Village Board on rezoning requests and zoning ordinance amendments. The Commission develops and adopts a Comprehensive Plan for the physical development of the Village to guide decision-making. The Plan Commission meets on the third Tuesday of each month. Meetings are open to the public and are held at the Village Hall/Public Safety Building (3100 Eaton Road).

Ethics Board

The Ethics Board is a body of five members appointed by the Village Board. The Ethics Board reviews charges filed against members of the Village Board or Village employees. The Ethics Board is charged with the responsibility of investigating matters brought before it and making findings of fact.

The Ethics Board meets on an as needed basis.

Joint Review Board

The Joint Review Board is establish pursuant to state statutes 66.1105 at the time and for the specific purpose of creating a tax incremental district or when amending a project plan in an existing tax incremental district. The board consists of one representative chosen by the school district that has power to levy taxes on the property within the tax incremental district, one representative chosen by the technical college district that has power to levy taxes on the property within the tax incremental district, one representative chosen by the county that has power to levy taxes on the property within the tax incremental district, one representative chosen by the village and one public member for the purpose of reviewing the proposal. The public member and the board's chairperson is selected by a majority of the other board members before a public hearing is held.
